The Hollywood Reporter: Like a grand Journey ballad

“Better Than I Know Myself”

Like a grand Journey ballad, the kind that stays stuck in your head all night, this first single from the album is like the quintessential prom song, the soundtrack to your makeout session or to a late-night drive. As hooky choruses go, it stands with the best of them while its message goes straight for the heart.

"Highlights Lambert's versatile voice"

"Better Than I Know Myself" is an outstanding song that highlights Lambert's versatile voice in a unique very personal story-telling song.
If this song is an indication of the quality of his upcoming album, "Trespassing", I believe he will achieve great success in the pop field and more Grammy nominations, and perhaps wins, in the future.
I look forward to "Trespassing."

"He's always in top form"

While pop's not my thing, Adam Lambert certainly is. With his new release, he once again captivates with his power vocals and mix of stylistic elements. For me, they could turn the production down even further so that his voice and his individuality might shine through more clearly. Pop seems to be a great equalizer -- there's just so much going on and the big producers certainly leave their mark. Watching Adam perform this song live twice this week (on Leno and Ellen) proves the point. Still, I love the beat, love his sensibility -- and of course, that beautiful voice of his.

"Love the vocals!"

I have listened to Adam Lambert ever since he hit the music air waves, my favorite being 'Better Than I know Myself'. :) I have both the original song and the Dave Aude Remix song. :) Adam Lambert knows how to bring pop and hip hop into the right melody for an out of this world hit! :) I just love him so much! :) The remix song is my cell phone's ringtone lol lol. That's how good that is lol.

Plus I love his eyebrows. :) They are so pretty and cleanly arched :)

Brian Mansfield's Review of "Better Than I Know Myself"

Better Than I Know Myself (Joshua Coleman, Lukasz Gottwald, Henry Walter, Claude Kelly).

Trespassing's first single marks a shift in the album: From here, the tempos get dialed back, the songs move off the dance floor and into more introspective space. As a single, BTIKM served as a transition from the For Your Entertainment album and Whataya Want From Me into the new material. Having heard it in that context for months, it almost sounds odd popping up in the middle of the album. But it's still a gorgeous melody and lyric.
